Gonubie River Shark
Hi there Nigel. I caught this shark in the gonubie river last sat 06-03-2010. It was about 200m from the slipway at tide waters towards the mouth. I caught it on chokka drift bait with a size 1.0 hook. My line was 3.2kg strenth but my leader was 8kg. We were fishing off a ark minnow and could not land it on the boat so we made our way to a jetty which was not easy as the shark had other ideas. Nevertheless we got him close enough and i grabbed his tail and through lots of splashing pulled him onto the jetty. As murphy’s law would have it,jeremy’s camera died, the line snapped at the top of the swivel and jaws flipped himself back into the water. This was the only pic we got of him.Any ideas what he was? A sweet william perhaps!

As the only witness to the tense struggle to land this fish , i would class it as a ‘ not-a-happy-chappy ‘ shark …
