Kwelega River Map

Submitted by Nigel on February 17, 2009 – 22:534 Comments

kwelega-river-mapThe Areena resort which is situated on the upper Kwelega River is the perfect venue to start your fishing adventure . At a small fee you can book into a chalet or simply pitch a tent on the banks of the Kwelega. A boat is advisable on this river as the banks are very overgrown. Species to be targeted in this river are Skipjack, Leervis, Spotted Grunter and Cob. The river is known for producing nice Skipjack. The river is fairly small so finding fish is a little easier.

Places to fish her are at the cliffs near the island, on the bend going towards the mouth, for spotties and kob and at the creek closer to the mouth has produced a skippy or 2.

Not sure of skippie spots but Arena turn off is along the East Coast Resorts Road, on the way to Cintsa. I think there is a launch fee. Call Ed Rathbone at Arena for more info.
