nahoon-map1The most fished river in the East London Area, this river produces some good fishing, you just have to be at the right place at the right time. Launching a boat on this river is very simple, just head down to Batting Bridge picnic spots. A licensed motor is required and the authorities do routine checks. There are a lot of mudbanks and reed banks that will allow for comfortable bank fishing. This river has Skipjack, Kob, Kingfish, Mullet, Leervis(Garrick) and Spotted Grunter. Places to fish is the drop-off (Situated at Playwaters) when the tide starts pushing. Another good place to try is the Rocky ledges opposite Torquay Road, Alot of Skipjack have been caught in this area. The Causeway at the top produces some nice Cob during spring and summer as well as Kingfish. There is a nature reserve near the mouth on the Beacon Bay side and no fishing is allowed from the bank. The best time to fish this river is in the early morning or late afternoon, Definately a river worth checking out.
